Set of six oval placemats handmade with layered capiz shells. These scallop-edged oval placemats are lightly sealed with resin on top and cork-backed on the bottom.
Capiz shells, also known as Windowpane Oysters, are native to the Philippines. They are edible, but valued more for their pearlescent shells and small pearls. They acquired the name from its long history dating as far back to 1860s being described in a dictionary.
