What is Circularity?

Simply put, Circularity is the macro effort of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

As the European Parliament describes it, Circular Economy or, Circularity is

a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products for as long as possible.

At the core of Circularity, it aims to extend the life cycle of a product and to reduce production, in an effort to tackle global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution.

In practice, circular economy implies reducing waste to a minimum. When a product reaches the end of its life, its materials are kept within the economy wherever possible. These can be productively used again and again, thereby creating further value.

This is a departure from the traditional, linear economic model, which is based on a take-make-consume-throw away pattern, relying on large quantities of cheap, easily accessible materials and energy.

What We Do to Participate

Second-Hand Shopping

PIQUANT’s goal is to bring more people to appreciate already-produced items. We hope that this will lessen the strain humans are putting on this planet through constant production cycles. Through growing our brand, we aim to grow public awareness and appreciation for vintage and antique goods.

Packaging

Along the way of achieving our goal, we have to do everything possible to not create more waste and to encourage the circular economic model. PIQUANT is committed to exclusively reusing and upcycling packaging materials. In your PIQUANT order, you will only find recycled boxes, paper, reused plastic protecting your pre-loved finds. Packing materials have been collected from friends and family and local businesses on a regular basis. To see our packaging in action, check our Instagram!
