Set of six round coasters handmade with layered capiz shells. These coasters are sturdier than they look, especially with the edge reinforcement in gold-plated metal, as well as foam backing for the base.
Capiz shells, also known as Windowpane Oysters, are native to the Philippines. They are edible, but valued more for their pearlescent shells and small pearls. They acquired the name from its long history dating as far back to 1860s being described in a dictionary.
This particular item was brought back from Piquant’s first international sourcing trip. Curated in Naples, Italy.
