Set of six round coasters handmade with layered capiz shells. These coasters are sturdier than they look, especially with the edge reinforcement in silver, as well as the cork backing for the base. Comes with the original packaging from the 1980s.

Capiz shells, also known as Windowpane Oysters, are native to the Philippines. They are edible, but valued more for their pearlescent shells and small pearls. They acquired the name from its long history dating as far back to 1860s being described in a dictionary.
